The BMW Z4 is a rear-wheel drive sports car . Replacing the Z3, first-generation production started in 2002 at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, with both roadster and coupe forms produced. Starting with the 2009 model year, the second-generation Z4 is built at BMW's Regensburg, Germany plant as a retractable hardtop roadster.

The Z4 offers a choice of four straight-6 engines: 2.2 L, 2.5 L, 3.0 L, and 3.2 L.All are variants of the BMW M54 engine. In the European market, a 2.0 L straight-4 is also offered.

The most powerful car of the Z4 line-up is the Z4 M. It features a naturally aspirated, in-line six cylinder engine, used in the third generation of the BMW M3, producing 252 kW (343 PS; 338 hp) at 7,900 rpm and 365 N·m (269 lb·ft) of torque at 4,900 rpm.
0-100 km/h takes 5.0 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h (155 mph).

Five-speed manual gearboxes are standard on all models except the 3.0 L and the M Roadster, which get a 6-speed Getrag.
5-speed or 6-speed automatic are available on all non M cars.
The M Roadster shares its 6-speed Getrag 217 manual gearbox with the M3.

A Sport package, adding stiffer and lower suspension, larger wheels with run-flat tires, and Dynamic Driving control, BMW's Vehicle Stability Control system, is also available.
2006-2008 BMW Z4 3.0si

In 2006, BMW updated the Z4 line by introducing the M Roadster, and later the M Coupe, with the vaunted S54 "M" engine, rated for 330 bhp at 7900 rpm.
The standard cars received the new N52 I6 engines. In the 3.0si, this engine makes 190 kW (258 PS; 255 hp) and 300 N·m (220 lb·ft) of torque.
The N52 features a magnesium block construction, which consists of an aluminum interior for the cylinders, and an outer magnesium block.
The engine features BMW's Valvetronic variable valve timing system for increased performance, are considerably more powerful through the middle of the rev range, and also improve fuel economy noticeably.
A final benefit of the N52 engines is that they improve handling and turn-in due to the decreased weight over the nose of the car.
This is particularly noticeable when compared to the Z4 M, which continues with the heavier S54 iron block engine.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has confirmed further details about the production version of 200EX, the experimental car shown at the Geneva motor show early in March 2009.

Rolls-Royce CEO, Tom Purves announced the details at a press conference in New York where 200EX is currently being shown to potential customers on the first leg of a world tour.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Purves said, “There has been a great deal of interest in this car since we first talked about producing a new model series in the autumn of 2006 and the reaction 200EX received at its unveiling at Geneva was very positive. As we move another step closer to the start of production at Goodwood, it is exciting to be able to share some of the specific technical details with customers and the media.”

He continued, “RR4 will deliver an authentic Rolls-Royce experience to owners, so expect peerless comfort and build quality. However, we have consciously engineered this car to be more involving and dynamic for those owners around the world that will wish to drive it themselves.”

RR4 will be powered by a brand new 6.6 litre turbo charged V12 engine unique to Rolls-Royce. The engine will be combined with an 8-speed automatic ZF gearbox. This new drive-train will significantly improve fuel and CO2 efficiency over the already class leading Phantom series of cars. Engine power will be upwards of 500bhp.

Porsche Carrera

History

Released at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show, Porsche's Carrera GT was a final production version of the concept car first seen at the 2001 Paris Auto Salon. It was Porsche's first limited production supercar since 959 production stopped in 1988. At the time of launch, it was one of the few available products that rivaled the Ferrari Enzo.

Unlike the 911, which carried the company for four decades, the Carrera GT was complete bottom up design. Its styling was thankfully unchanged from Paris show car and departed from the traditional Porsche shape which the 959 couldn't escape.
Motivation for the Carrera GT came directly from Porsche's successful motor sports program and the Porsche WSC-95 Le Mans prototype. After winning Le Mans twice in 1996 and 1997, Porsche revived an old V10 engine for the 1999 season but it was shelved only two days into track testing. Fortunately, the 5.5 liter V10 was used in a one-of 2001 Paris Auto Salon concept car which was received well enough for production to begin two years later. Final Assembly commenced at Porsche's Leipzig plant and the car sold with an MSRP of $440,000 USD, $515,000 CAD, or €390,000.
Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. But Porsche announced in August, 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through 2006, citing discontinuation was due to changing airbag regulations in the US. As of May 6, 2006[update], 1,270 GT's had been manufactured, with 604 being sold in the United States.

Engine specifications

The Carrera GT is powered by a 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450 kW),whereas the original concept car featured a 5.5 litre version rated at 558 hp (416 kW). Porsche claims it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph), although road tests indicated that in reality the car could accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-100 mph in 6.8 seconds, while 0-125 mph in 9.9.
The Carrera GT has a basic five colour paint scheme which includes Guards Red, Fayence Yellow, Basalt Black, GT Silver and Seal Grey. Custom colours were also available from the factory. A traditional six-speed manual transmission is the only available transmission, in contrast to its rival the Enzo Ferrari which is only offered with a computer actuated paddle shifted manual gearbox. Attached to this gearbox is a beechwood gearknob which pays homage to the wooden gearknob used in the Porsche 917 Le Mans racers. In its second year of production, a limited edition carbon fibre knob was also made available. With the Enzo Ferrari priced initially around $660,000 USD, the Carrera GT base price of $444,400 USD makes the dream of owning a piece of Le Mans inspired technology somewhat more attainable.
The Carrera GT has large side inlets and air dams that help cool the large V10 engine that had 612 bhp (456 kW; 620 PS)[citation needed] framed by the carbon fibre rear hood. Fitted with Porsche's latest Carbon fibre-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite brake system, the 15 inch SGL Carbon disc brakes make an impressive appearance underneath the 19 inch front and 20 inch rear wheels. Similar to other Porsche models, such as the 911, the GT includes an automated rear wing spoiler which deploys above 70 mph (110 km/h).

Futures

Notable technology includes a pure carbon fiber monocoque and subframe, dry sump lubrication and inboard suspension. The carbon fiber monocoque and subframe were produced and assembled by ATR Composites Group of Italy. The spolier of the Carrera GT extends into the air when the car reaches about 60 miles an hour and evens out the air flow, which causes less drag. The Carrera GT radiator is about five times the size of a 911 Turbo's. Unlike some of its rivals, the Carrera GT does not feature dynamic stability control, but it does have traction control. Porsche claims that over 75 technology patents have been filed during the development of the Carrera GT.

The Audi R8 is a mid-engined sports car introduced by the German automaker Audi in 2006
The R8 is based on the Audi Space Frame, largely derived from the Lamborghini Gallardo. It is built by Audi AG's wholly owned private subsidiary company, quattro GmbH

Audi announced in 2005 that the name of the successful R8 race car would be used for a new road car in 2007, the Audi R8, based on the Audi Le Mans quattro concept car, appearing at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show and 2003 International Motor Show. The R8 was officially launched at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There is some confusion with the name, which the car shares with the Le Mans winning R8 LMP and also the 1989 Mk2 Rover 200, codenamed R8.

Interior

The seats show a distinctive but subtle shine, matching the science fiction feel of the dashboard. With curving contours the seats clearly betray the comfort they offer as they silently sing a siren's song to the potential driver. The sleek adjustment levers at its base take no steps away from the metallic, futuristic feel of the Audi R8. Situated between the front seats is what seems like an extension of the dashboard sporting the parking brake and cup holders for the comfort of the driver and passenger. Sharing this space is the shifter, which is surrounded at its base with a reflective metallic disk. The shifter knob itself is a simple shape and it too sports the metallic color of its base.

Engine Specifications
The top speed of the Audi R8 is reported at 187 mph (301 km/h).
The 0-60 mph (96 km/h) speed is reported at an incredible 4.4 seconds.
To top that off, the 1/4th mile (400 m) time has been registered at 12.5 seconds at 113.2 mph (182.2 km/h).

The Audi R8 also features a V8 (4.2 L) or a V12 (6.0 L) engine (with a V10 planned) along with a 4.2 L (4163 cc) displacement. Finally, it is important to know that the engine clocks in at 414 bhp (309 kW) at an incredible 7800 rpm. The default transmission is a standard Audi manual gearbox or an Audi "R-tronic" gearbox. These transmission options are also available on the Lamborghini Gallardo, yet another feature these two cars share in common.
This arrangement allows the driver to do anything from simply drive around town doing errands or maneuvering heavy city traffic. With a top speed of 301 km/h, the Audi R8 is sure to impress any potential driver. For anyone brave enough to truly open it up, this engine can eat up highway like a light snack. The best part about it is the sound it puts out, when the engine is running slowly, it is a strong, yet dulled hum, a beautiful but unobtrusive sound. Once the driver takes it past 5,000 rpm the beast really wakes up and lets loose its roar. Any fan of speed and power would hunger for more , which the 4.2L V8 FSI could easily provide.

LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO

The Lamborghini Murciélago is a high performance sports car produced by Italian automaker Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and designed by Luc Donckerwolke. It was introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo.

The Murciélago is a two-door, two-seat coupé. To celebrate the company's 40 years in operation, 50 special edition Murciélagos were built during the autumn of 2003.
An open-top version called the Murciélago Roadster was introduced in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The roadster features similar performance to the coupé with a more aggressive rear flank, as well as a considerably higher price tag.

The Murciélago sports a 6.2-litre version of the Lamborghini V12 engine, a six-speed manual or 6-speed sequential automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive.

It also has a rear spoiler that can be raised to an angle of 70 degrees, side mirrors that fold in to improve aerodynamics, and side scoops that automatically open to the needed size to let in just the right amount of air needed to cool its engine. The 2008 car's estimated fuel economy for the 6-speed manual is 8 miles per US gallon (29 L/100 km; 9.6 mpg-imp) city and 13 miles per US gallon (18 L/100 km; 16 mpg-imp) freeway, making it the least efficient 2008 car for city and highway driving, according to the EPA.[2]

The coupé's base price is US $313,000, which is US $107,000 more than its smaller sibling, the Lamborghini Gallardo.

In 2006 the Murciélago's engine was replaced by a stronger 6.5-liter engine and the car's name was changed to Murciélago LP640. For the 2007 model year Lamborghini did the same with the roadster model, which is now called Murciélago LP640 Roadster. Both versions received a minor facelift.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is an Anglo-German super car jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive, built in Portsmouth and the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey, England. Daimler AG, owner of Mercedes-Benz, also owns 40% of the McLaren Group.

Due to the presence of the automatic gear box, front mid-engined arrangement and its driving characteristics lead some commentators to classify the SLR McLaren as a GT whose rivals can be considered to be e.g. the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish and Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano.

SLR stands for "Sport, Leicht, Rennsport" (sport, light, racing). Mercedes-Benz has stated that they will build 3500 SLRs in a span of 7 years, with an annual production of only 500 cars.The car's base price is GB£300,000 (approx. US$495,000 or €475,000, c. 2007).

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren is inspired by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR of 1955, based on the W196 F1 car, yet named after the road-going 300SL Gullwing. On 4 April 2008, Mercedes announced they will cease production of the SLR. The last of the coupes rolled off the production line at the end of 2007 and the roadster version is due to be discontinued in early 2009.

Don't look now, but there's another Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren special on the scene. The latest comes via FAB Design, the tuner that shocked us with their modded SL and CL in Geneva last year. Now they've turned their attention to the SLR and dubbed the result "Desire." If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, desire must be in the loins, and this one leaves us kind of limp. While it isn't as divisively over-the-top as, say, the ASMA Perfectus or the Hamann Volcano, or as garish as the chrome or gold ones we've seen, we'd prefer the SLR 722 GT directly from Mercedes.

The carbon fiber rebody is distinctive and bold, and might not be as bad as we implied. It has a certain DTM machismo to it that might appeal to certain SLR fanciers who want something a little different. In its favor, the FAB Design Desire isn't all about looks. It does feature some suspension tweaks and engine mods that bring power up to 750 hp and nearly 800 torques. And all of that bodywork, along with that optional rear wing, are said to increase downforce considerably. Only 15 will be offered and rather amazingly, all are said to be spoken for. Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg recently launched its latest machine, the Koenigsegg CCX, a futuristic-looking automobile whose body and chassis are made of a lightweight carbon fibre composite reinforced with Kevlar, and whose all-aluminium engine is designed for high intensity pressure and heat.

Company founder Christian von Koenigsegg, who was in Dubai for the launch, talked about the manufacture of his cars as follows: 'In the production of each car, we devote all available time, emotions and resources - sparing nothing, venturing and sacrificing everything - in the name of beauty, perfection and speed.'

The CCX is the latest iteration of the Koenigsegg CC range, offering tighter lines and a more aggressive stance, but clearly following in the noble design and engineering tradition of its predecessor, the CCR, famous for holding the production car speed record of 388 km per hour.

Andreas Petré, Manager - Koenigsegg Middle East, said the company feels a kinship with car enthusiasts in the region 'because of our shared passion for the most finely honed, beautiful and powerful vehicles on the street.'

'The Gulf is one of our most promising markets because of the large number of elite supercar aficionados eager to experience the uncompromising, incomparable driving experience of the Koenigsegg CCR,' Petré added.

Not only does the GCC boast some of the highest per capita incomes in the world and a disproportionate share of millionaires, but it also is home to the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix and the Dubai Autodrome, which features an FIA-sanctioned circuit.

The Koenigsegg CCX appears extremely low and broad, with a cockpit-like semicircular windscreen and organically shaped rear hood as key features. The smooth and polished body is gently curved, its lines and surfaces appearing slippery, projecting an image of velocity.

Inside, leather contrasts with futuristic stainless steel controls and refined surfaces. The hardtop is stored under the front bonnet during roofless driving and crash tests have verified that at least in terms of safety, Koenigsegg is a truly Swedish car.

Its higher-performance limited production version, the SSC Ultimate Aero TT,[1] is currently the fastest production car in the world, with a fastest recorded speed of 413 km/h (257 mph).[2] This speed was reportedly achieved during tests on September 13, 2007 in West Richland, Washington, United States and verified by Guinness World Records on October 9, 2007.[3]

SSC tested the top speed capability of the Ultimate Aero TT on March 22, 2007. The original test was scheduled for March 21, 2007 but was called off due to bad weather conditions. SSC closed down a 12-mile (19 km) stretch of U.S. Route 93 in Nevada for the event. Their goal was to replace the Bugatti Veyron as the fastest production car ever produced, which at the time could achieve 253.5 mph (408.0 km/h). Simulation and testing at NASA's Virginia facility had shown that the Ultimate Aero TT should be capable of approximately 273 mph (439 km/h).[17] The March 22nd attempt failed to break the record, apparently due to sub-optimal conditions. Test driver Rick Doria reported "wheel-spin" at speeds above 190 mph (306 km/h).[18] Despite the failure of the attempt, the car still reached 242 mph (390 km/h).

In addition to the fastest production car record, SSC also applied for the world record for the highest horsepower for an emissions-legal production automobile.[20]

With a claimed 1001 horsepower, the Veyron is a major technical achievement. Its engine has 16 cylinders, essentially formed by joining two V8 engines at the crank.

This W16 powerplant displaces 8.0 liters and features ten radiators for everything from the engine cooling systems to the air conditioner.

The $1.3 million Veyron will reach a top speed of 253 mph - a speed it can maintain for 12 minutes before all the fuel is gone. Power is transmitted to the pavement via four-wheel-drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission.

The car can hit 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, 100 mph in 5.5 seconds, and 150 mph in 9.8 seconds. Getting to 200 mph takes 18.3 seconds, and 250 mph takes 42.3 seconds.

A special key is required to "unlock" the Veyron's top speed of 250+ mph. The car is then lowered to just 3.5 inches from the ground. A hydraulic spoiler extends at speed, and it can also serve as an air brake.

The Veyron weighs a hulking 4,160 lbs, but even its harshest critics admit its handling is surprisingly sharp. Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren F1 was very skeptical of the Veyron during its development, but after driving the finished car, he conceded it is a "huge achievement."

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson also publicly stated the Veyron was ridiculous and would never be built, only to call it "best car ever made" after he drove it. He famously characterized it as "utterly, stunningly, mind blowingly, jaw droppingly brilliant."
